I received my copy of Opera News today and found this very interesting article:
http://www.metoperafamily.org/operanews/issue/article.aspx?id=5088&issueID=329
The article recounts the story of 2 recent CDs. The first was a studio financed release (on Decca), Soprano, featuring the exquisite voice of Nicole Cabell. The author states, "Trouble is, Soprano may be the last of its kind."
The second is a self produced CD by the equally talented Anna Maria Martinez. With heroic effort and focus she financed and produced her own CD and looked for a distributor. She connected with Naxos who released it as Soprano Songs and Arias.
An interesting juxtaposition of the old and new model.
